PREPARE YOUR ARTWORK
Vector artwork is our preference (either .ai or .eps). Without it, there may be a $45 per hour design fee.
Understanding Vector Art Files
All files must be at least 300 dpi & Vector Format for screen printing & laser engraving. If your file is not 300 dpi, you cannot just increase the resolution of the file. This is called "upsampling" and will result in a blurry image. If you are creating your file in Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw or another Vector-based software, just size your image to the size you want it to print.
We understand that "vector art file" is unfamiliar to many individuals looking to order custom t-shirts. We are here to help! Vector art is an editable art file that is scalable, separated into distinct shapes, and doesn't lose its quality regardless of sizing. Common programs used to create vector artwork are Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw. A vector art file is vital for certain print methods, such as screen printing, to appropriately set up a design for the printing process.
Keep in mind that Images from websites & cell phones are typically in 72 or 96 DPI.
Convert Your Text to Outlines
If you are creating your file in Adobe Illustrator, you will need to choose "Create Outlines" on all of your text. This allows us to open the file without requiring the font.
SPECIFIC Fonts
Trying to match fonts is time consuming and often involves a lot of guesswork and substitutions. Providing us with your desired fonts OR outlining your fonts is the best way to avoid costs associated with this. Be sure the font you select is free to use; if we must pay for your font, we will include the charge in your job as a change order. We will assume this fee is ok with you if you send us a font that requires payment in order to fulfill your order.

What happens to my art file after the order is finished?
All of our graphic files are saved on our server and backed up nightly. All of the films are stored in a packet dedicated to each customer, ready to be used for any potential reorders.
Do you keep the screens for our artwork?
Due to our print volume, we are not able to keep any screens.
ACCEPTED FILES FOR EMBROIDERY:
Artwork must be converted to a digitized file.
Digitizing is the process of converting artwork or designs into a digitized file that the embroidery machines can use to create and replicate designs. A discount is offered if flat(such as a left chest pocket) and cap designs are ordered together.

Working with Canva Templates
If you don’t have the Adobe programs or you’re looking for some templates to inspire you, Canva can be a helpful place to start. In order to get the best outcome for your print-ready designs, it's super important to know how to set up your Canva template properly.
**It's important to note, some capabilities within Canva require users to have the paid version of Canva. These include:
When you're ready to export your designs, hit the ‘Share’ button > Downloads > PDF Print. Doing this will export the file with the necessary DPI resolution of 300 required for printing. For text-based designs, we also recommend saving them as a PDF file.

Gateway Imprints, Inc. is not responsible for these color variances.

Inconsistencies may occur in ink coverage and registration when printing over seams, pockets, collars or any other edges. Gateway Imprints, Inc is not responsible for these inconsistencies. These items are exempt from our replacement policy for this reason.
